REINFORCEMENT COMPOSITES

A geogrid is geosynthetic material used to reinforce soils and similar materials. Geogrids are commonly used to reinforce retaining walls, as well as subbases or subsoils below roads and payments. Soils pull apart under tension. Compared to soil, geogrids are strong in tension.

Geogrid composites, apart from soil stabilization they will perform separation and filtration functions with the help of filter fabric laminate to it. Geogrid composites are utilized mostly when a high tensile strength material has to be installed between soils / aggregates with different particle sizes

Composite Geogrid Applications

  • Soil stabilization/reinforcement of weak soils and heavy duty pavements.
  • Basal reinforcement below embankments constructed on sabkha soils.
  • Asphalt reinforcement.
  • Railway ballast reinforcement over soft saturated soils and also to reduce the thickness of ballast.
  • Soil stabilization over coastal roads.
  • Base reinforcement under transmission line towers over weak and saturated sub-grade.
  • Reinforcing retaining walls, slopes, foundations, embankments etc.
  • Limits differential settlements during consolidation.
  • High stiffness and low creep properties maximize soil performance.
  • Soil stabilization to create working platform below temporary cranes & pilling platforms
  • Reinforcing paved & unpaved roads, Haul roads, railway track permanent way, airport runways & aprons etc.
  • Immediate interlocking with cover soils / aggregated laterally and increases their shear strength.
